In 2024, we took on a special project—a large, single-story private house by the sea in Tallinn, Estonia. This home was all about blending modern comfort with the natural beauty of its seaside location, creating a space that feels both inviting and grounded.
The first thing you notice is the unique parquet flooring with its curved forms. It’s not your typical straight planks—these floors have a flowing, wavy pattern that mimics the nearby waves, bringing the ocean vibe right inside. The warm, medium-toned wood adds a cozy feel throughout the house, tying every room together.
The living area is a standout, with a huge glass ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows that let in tons of natural light and show off the snowy landscape outside. We added comfy beige sofas and a coffee table made of White Onyx tile to keep things simple and relaxed. The TV wall, also in White Onyx tile, features soft backlighting, adding a touch of modern flair and making the space feel warm and welcoming.
The kitchen and dining area flow together seamlessly, with a wooden slatted wall that matches the flooring. We went with matt black cabinets with an anti-fingerprint surface and a sleek black kitchen island topped with a live-edge wooden counter, paired with modern bar stools. The dining area features a 5m custom-made river table, perfect for gatherings. A sparkling chandelier hangs above, adding a bit of dazzle without going overboard.
The bathroom is a serene escape, with white marble walls and gold accents. We installed double sinks, a freestanding tub, and a glass shower with a gold mosaic wall for a pop of texture. The tub filler and the master bathroom seat have custom-made stainless steel structures inside, carefully tiled over for a seamless look.
Other spaces, like the bedroom and sauna, follow the same vibe. The bedroom has a geometric wooden headboard wall with built-in lighting, creating a cozy nook. The sauna, with its black tiles and custom-designed benches that widen toward the corner, feels like a little retreat within the retreat. The sauna roof is uniquely made from cones, adding a natural touch. Even the hallway and closet areas feature wooden slats and matt black cabinetry with an anti-fingerprint surface, keeping the look consistent.
This seaside house in Tallinn is all about feeling at home while embracing the beauty of the coast. It’s a space where you can kick back, enjoy the view, and feel the warmth of thoughtful design all around you.
